Global citizenship widens horizon: Sheikha Mayassa Wednesday, 08 December 2010 01:42

DOHA: Global Citizenship through informal learning was discussed by H E Sheikha Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson, Museums Authority Board of Trustees, and Chairperson, Reach Out Asia (ROTA) at the breakout session on Shares Values at the first day of the WISE summit yesterday.
In a presentation, she explained that Global Citizenship is an awareness of the wider world and a sense of one’s own role as a world citizen. The Global Citizenship Education provides youth with the opportunity to access education they need in order to realise their full potential and shape the development of their communities.
Global Citizenship Efforts are are undertaken through formal and informal education.
Formally it engages youth as leaders in defining and advocating for innovative solutions to education and development challenges.
