Wadah Khanfar, Director-General of Al Jazeera Network, yesterday met with young activists, bloggers and journalists who are credited with leading the recent revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt and Libya.

Later in the day, many young leaders participated in an interactive session on the role of social media in fostering political change. The day began with a seminar co-hosted by the Al Jazeera Center for Studies and the Nyon Process that focused on political changes in the Arab world. Participants from Tunisia, Egypt, the United States and Jordan offered insight into the current situation throughout the Middle East and proposed solutions for the future of the region.

Additional events included the launch of the Arabic edition of “The Al Jazeera Effect: How the New Global Media are Reshaping World Politics” by Professor Philip Seib as well as an interactive seminar on the challenges on reporting from conflict zones, which was hosted by the Al Jazeera Public Liberties and Human Rights Desk.

The Forum officially begins today, with opening remarks from Al Jazeera’s Director General and keynote speeches by Former President of Brazil Luiz Inلcio Lula De Silva and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Professor Ahmet Davutoglu.
