Al Jazeera Forum: Al Jazeera Effects launched in Arabic Sunday, 13 March 2011 03:06

Al Jazeera Center for Studies launched the Arabic translation of the English version of its book, The Al Jazeera Effect issued in 2008. The book deals with effects of new mass media, mainly television channels and the Internet on reshaping politics through providing information without restrictions.

Media is no longer an abstract practice. It had a wider public base than any time before so it practices an unprecedented effect in the international politics. It can be a tool for conflict or peace. And it can unify all nations around the globe. That is the phenomena of Al Jazeera effect which is reshaping the world.

Philip Seib author of the book wrote in his introduction to the Arabic translation of the book: “Al Jazeera Effect as a media phenomena depends on hope and faith that the world will be better if people were given more freedom in selecting their policy and had more access to information sources.” The book raises many essential questions related to whether Al Jazeera effect will enable to push democracy forward and will that lead to decrease of clash of civilisations in the future?
