DSM index gains 110.46 points

Doha • The index of Doha Securities Market (DSM) gained 110.46 points or 1.49 per cent last week to close at 7,507.69 at the end of trading on Thursday compared with 7,397.23 points the previous week. The value of traded shares increased by 7.78 per cent to reach QR806.89m at the end of last week as compared with QR748.64 the previous week. The volume of shares traded decreased by 12.31 per cent to 27,921,592 shares as against 31,842,008 shares in the previous week, figures released by DSM on Thursday indicated. The number of transactions fell by 9.06 per cent to 21,152 deals as against 23,260 the previous week. Market capitalization increased by 1.46 per cent to QR255.02bn as compared with QR251.36bn at the end of the previous week.The banking sector dominated in terms of value last week accounting for 40.45 per cent of the chips traded followed by the services sector accounting for 30.53 per cent and the industrial sector accounting for 26.57 per cent. The banking sector led trading also in terms of volume of traded shares which accounted for 58.80 per cent followed by the services sector (29.80 per cent) and the industrial sector (10.58 per cent). In all, 23 of the 38 listed shares ended the week higher, while 13 witnessed a decline and two were unchanged. As for individual chips Industries Qatar (IQ) led trading followed by Al Khalij Commercial Bank and Barwa.
