Doha: The Qatar Leadership Academy organised a trip to Qatar Islamic Cultural Centre, Museum of Islamic Art and Souq Waqif recently.
The idea of the trip came in line with the vision of the Academy’s administration in regard to the importance of communication and interaction with the society and its cultural and educational establishments to develop the inquisitive and social skills of the students and enrich their cultural background and expand their intellectual capacities.
During their visit to Qatar Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) the students and mentors made long tour around the halls and facilities of the Centre, including the lecture theatre, the language laboratory, the mosque and the library, which contains a vast variety of books in different languages and contributes in the promulgation of the lofty message of Islam. The students were briefed on the services extended by the Centre such as the special artistic exhibitions of Arabic calligraphy, the training courses on Arabic for non-Arabic speakers and the programs and activities that contribute in furthering the spread of the message of Islam.
At the end of the visit souvenirs were exchanged; and the visitors thanked the administration of this distinguished centre. The students then set off to visit the Museum of Islamic Art.
After admiring the museum’s building and its captivating architectural designs, the students toured the sections and facilities of the museum where the officials gave them detailed explanations about the marvellous artistic acquisitions and artefacts showcased in the museum to represent the Islamic art in various times and reflect its aesthetic quality, grace and diversity. The students concluded their trip with a visit to Souq Waqif and traditional and old marketplaces.
Every one appreciated Souq Waqif and its prime location that connects Doha city to the sea. Through the visit the students conjured back the spirit of the good old days as reflected in the old architectural style of the souq’s buildings.
The students expressed their gratitude to the academy’s administration for according them the chance to go on such a trip that enhanced their attachment to their religion, homeland and culture.
The trip was organised by the Islamic Counselors section while students were accompanied in the trip by Robert Trint, the director of the Academy with the teachers and supervisors of the students.
