Doha: The sleek and sporty Kia Cerato Koup, the first ever coupe, has arrived here to surprise everyone.
Marketing Manager of Al Attiya Motors and Trading, Hussain Abbas said that he was confident that the new car will attract hundreds of new customers to their showrooms.
The two litre and one litre Kia Cerato Koup with either automatic transmission or manual have three equipment levels (LX, EX and SX) in nine exterior colours.
A lower roofline has an unusually long wheelbase of 2650 mm. The Cerato design is based on the Coupe concept made by the Kia California’s design studios led by Tom Kearns, the chief designer of Kia Motors America, while the engineers concentrated on straightening the eight areas: aggressive styling, class-leading performance, fun to drive, steering, handling, ride balance, good fuel economy, great cabin comfort, enhance overall safety and introduction of new technologies to challenge the popular two door cars.
Abbas said that the leading best selling cars of Kia in overseas markets in 2008 was the Cerato four door sedan (a spectra sibling) with more than 192,000 delivered to customers and anticipating that the sales of the New Kia Cerato Koup will reach global sales of up to 221,000 units.
The market research group predicts that sales of Cerato Koup will account 15 percent of total sales volume.
Cerato Koup and Cerato Sedan in both left and right hand drive versions is already marketed in general and East European markets that are manufactured in Hwasung facility in Korea, which is also the manufacturer of Kia Sorento CUV.
According to Abbas the new Kia Cerato Koup was first revealed at the 2008 New York International Auto Show last year.
The concept combined youthful exuberance with a sporty and sleek design, balance propositions with a fluid style that evoke an emotional driving experience.
Each angle of the New Kia Cerato Koup possesses an attitude that display distinctive characteristic features, from its bold frontal styling of its signature grille that was first seen on Kia Kee and Koup as concept cars it blends seamlessly into the Cerato Koup’s four light, black bezel head lamps and turn indicator lamps.
The Koup stands 60 mm lower (50 mm lowered roofline and 10 mm lowered suspension), and is 50 mm shorter, 10 mm narrower than the Cerato sedan, but it retrains the same 2650 wheel base for comfortably accommodating luggage. Aggressive styling of the 17–inch diameter alloy wheels, with a low profile tyres of 215/45 R17 matches to any of the nine colours available from solid finishes to five metallic colours.
