Doha: Yum! Restaurants International, the International Division of Yum! Brands, yesterday opened the first Pizza Hut Delivery (PHD) store in Qatar.

The PHD unit is located at the Muaither area.

The PHD concept primarily stands for freshly made pizza delivered hot at an affordable price. However, the store will be a complete home-meal replacement solution as it will also deliver pasta and wings, as well as sides. Key PHD products will include PHD traditional crust, Pan Pizza, Tuscani Pasta and Wings Street wings.

As part of its International development plans, Yum! Restaurants International has put together a resourced and dedicated PHD team to work on this project. PHD delivery units have already opened with success in many countries, including Lebanon, India, Romania, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. By the end of 2009, PHD will count over 100 units in 14 countries.

“We’re extremely pleased with the customer response to this new concept so far everywhere we opened,” said President of Yum! Restaurants International, Graham Allan.

“But the best signal for us is the fact that our franchise partners around the world want to build PHD units, which is a strong sign of confidence in the concept the products and the Brand,” Allan said

“Because of its simple menu, fresh taste and affordable value, the PHD concept will particularly appeal to the younger generation that seeks hot and exciting taste,” said K John Mathew of Sterling Catering, who operates Pizza Hut in Qatar.
