Qatar, Tajikistan sign slew of agreements

The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Tajikistan President Imomali Rahmon witnessing the signing of one of a slew of agreements and MoUs in Dushanbe yesterday. The agreements were signed by the Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Yousuf Hussein Kamal and his Tajik counterpart Safarali Najmuddinov. Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor al Thani was also present.

Dushanbe • Qatar and the Republic of Tajikistan yesterday signed a number of agreements and Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs). The agreements were signed in the presence of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Tajikistan President Imomali Rahmon. The Emir is on a two-day visit to Tajikistan.

The agreements include a MoU in the investment sector, the setting up a council for Businessmen between Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) and the Tajik Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI). The MoU and the agreement were signed by the Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Economy and Commerce H E Yousuf Hussein Kamal, while on the Tajik side they were signed by Minister of Finance Safarali Najmuddinov and Chief of TCCI Sharif Saeed.

The two sides also signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the Qatari Mawashi (livestock) company and two Tajik livestock companies. The two MoUs were signed for Mawashi by its Director-General Sultan Jawhar al Abdullah, while for the two Tajik companies were signed by their directors. The Emir and the Tajik President later witnessed the exchange of the partnership contract between the Qatari Diyar Real Estate company and Dushanbe Municipality.

Earlier, a session of official talks was held in Dushanbe between the Emir and the Tajikistan President. The talks were attended by the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor al Thani, H E Yousuf Hussein Kamal, Chief of the Emiri Diwan H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Saud Al Thani and members of the delegation accompanying the Emir. Talks dealt with boosting bilateral relations.
