The Qatari delegation with officials from Singapore’s community police.

DOHA: A delegation from the Ministry of Interior entrusted to study community policing visited Singapore recently to learn about the city state’s experience in this field.

Brigadier Rashid Shaheen Al Athiq from the office of the Minister of State for Interior Affairs headed the delegation, which comprised Colonel Hamad Ahmed Al Muhannadi, Director of the Legal Affairs Department, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftah, Director of the Public Relations Department, Captain Mohamed Hamad Al Ghayaseen, Assistant Director of the HR Department and Abdullah Dhain Al Kuwari from the International Cooperation Department.

The delegation met with community police officials of Singapore Police and got acquainted with Singapore’s experiences in this field. The delegation also visited one of the police headquarters in Singapore to learn about the daily activities of the community police.

Singapore police is one of world’s leading police agencies and has introduced community policing. It has implemented a variety of programmes that empower community members and encourage them to cooperate with the police in their efforts against crime and various security threats.
