DOHA: The five-day Fanar Expo concluded with a paper-marbling event heralding the upcoming Qatar National Day celebrations.
The Turkish Ebro artist Ahmet Ali Cocktan, who established the world record for the largest paper marbling (Ebro), recently, again used his talent to draw an abstract art inspired by the Qatari flag.
Using extracts of plants to make natural paints, the artist produced patterns in maroon colour similar to those found on marble. The painting was almost of the same scale as the one which had him place in the Guinness Book of Records last Friday.
With white and maroon colour and the broad white serrated band of nine white points, the work was a dedication to the leaders of the country and National day celebrations, according to the painter.
The exhibition drew a huge crowd with another unique exhibit — the half-size replica of the Ka’aba on the last day.
The organisers, Fanar, meanwhile, confirmed that the exhibition will become regular event and will be held inside and outside Qatar. UK will probably be the first to host the event abroad.
