DOHA: Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFS-Qatar) hosted its first career fair yesterday.

The day-long event was meant for SFS-Qatar students. Over 26 high profile employers participated in the event with booth exhibits and information sessions.

ExxonMobil, Qatar Finance House, Barwa, HSBC and PricewaterhouseCoopers were some of the organizations represented from the private sector. In addition to this, representatives such as Muslim Aid, Qatar Red Crescent and Reach Out to Asia were present from the non-governmental sector. The fair was also marked by the presence of research institutions and think tanks such as RAND, Brookings Center, The Arabic Democracy Foundation and Al Jazeera Research Center.

The inaugural career fair offered the employers a chance to discuss their future professional opportunities with the students, while at the same time preparing the SFS-Qatar student body for the job market. The event also offered the participating companies a chance to promote their organization and talk about future professional opportunities for possible internship and full-time positions in a private setting.

The Career Fair was also marked by the presence of Maersk Oil, Qatargas, Hill and Knowlton, Al Jazeera Research Center, Qatar Foundation-Research Division, Bayt.com, Kershaw Leonard, Clarendon Parker and Qatar Olympic Committee
