doha • The Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ) held a Connections “Networking and Recruitment’ Reception as part of its efforts to give companies an opportunity to meet and network with upcoming graduates.

The event brought together more than 30 local companies that are looking for new talent and Carnegie Mellon students who will be graduating in the spring. The companies included Cisco, ConocoPhillips, Shell, General Electric, Exxon Mobile, Dolphin Energy, RasGas, Qatargas, Qatar Petroleum, Microsoft, QSTP and client members, iHorizons, Commericalbank, HSBC, Doha Bank, IBQ, KPMG, Deloitte, Standard Chartered, Qatar Financial Center, Qatar Regulatory Authority, SIDRA, Qtel, Q-Cert, Nestle, Occidental, Total, HP and QIB.

“We are graduating our first students in May and they will be poised to take on the demands and challenges of a globally competitive world. Hence, it is important that they find the right place to apply their talents, skills and abilities," said Khadra Dualeh, Director of the Office of Professional Development, CMUQ.

The event, which is part of the larger Connections internship programme, was held in the Al Aqool Atrium in the Recreation Center on the Education City campus. Dualeh expects the event to be held annually henceforth.

By holding such events, Carnegie Mellon Qatar assists organizations in selecting the right talent for available positions and it allows students to see an array of opportunities available to them upon graduation. Seniors in the Business Administration and Computer Science programmes came to the event with CVs in hand and industry representatives came ready to ask questions and talk about their corporate mission.
