Georgian President arrives today

Doha: The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili will arrive in Doha this evening on a three-day official visit. The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and the Georgian President will hold talks on enhancing ties of cooperation between the two countries, and issues of common interest.

Qatar, Liberia diplomatic ties

Paris: The State of Qatar and the Republic of Liberia announced in a joint statement issued here yesterday the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The statement, signed by Qatar’s Ambassador in Paris Mohammad Jiham Al Kuwari and Liberia’s Ambassador M Thomas, was issued after a ceremony held at the Qatari Embassy in Paris.

Drive to improve students’ behaviour

DOHA: The Independent Schools are set to launch a massive campaign aimed at bringing in a positive impact on the behavioural patterns of their students.

The school operators signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Al Awain Rehabilitation Centre to launch the campaign entitled “Mutadhaminuun” (stand together and support each other).

The centre will host a series of workshops and awareness lectures as part of the programme.

The schools and the centre would engage the community in dealing with student behaviour. The centre will hold a series of training courses for social workers aimed at helping them detect and identify poor student behaviour. A number of activities will also be held with the support of Mozah Bint Mohammed Centre and the juvenile police to help combat smoking.
