The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has also sent a cable of condolences to the Emir of Kuwait. Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani has sent a cable of condolences to Emir of Kuwait.
Bank takes Gulf firm to court for default
DOHA: A local bank has slapped a lawsuit on a Gulf-based company with operations here alleging that it had failed to service large accumulated debts.
According to Al Sharq, the bank and several other institutions have suffered huge losses having staked large sums with this company as a fallout of the world financial crisis.
The daily said the bank has suffered losses to the tune of millions of riyals having risked its money with the sued company which has failed to fulfill its commitments to a lot of investors.
The daily said with each passing day a number of such violations are coming to light. In this case, the bank has filed lawsuit against 16 partners of the said company which include individuals as well as entities.
Thai expats to pay tributes to King
DOHA: Over 4,000 Thai expatriates in Qatar would gather on Friday at Al Khor Sports Club to celebrate the 82nd birthday of their country’s King Bhumidol Adulyadej.
The gathering led by Royal Thai Embassy officials will offer wishes for his complete recovery from illness.
The King of Thailand will turn 82 on December 5. Having been in hospital over the past months, King Bhumidol has gained strength gradually and would soon return to his royal residence.
It is traditional that Thai citizens from all walks of life in the kingdom and around the world would jointly arrange activities on this special occasion.
Besides official ceremony to commemorate their revered monarch, several activities are arranged by the local Thai community, enterprises, students and labour groups. Singing and dancing contests, football, tug-a-war and blood donation would proceed right after the official ceremony. The festive will end with Thai lunch.
The embassy will host a dinner reception on Sunday at Grand Hyatt Hotel with the diplomatic corps and official guests.
As a token of respect, members of Qatar Philharmonic and 51 East Yamaha offer a performance of songs composed by His Majesty the King. Doha Jazz will provide musical entertainment during the reception.
