Thiruvananthapuram: A test-tube baby born to a 62-year-old woman in Kerala drowned in a bucket of water yesterday. The accident occurred when the mother, Bhavani Amma, who was playing with Kannan alias Sai Raj, 2, in the courtyard, had gone inside the house at Moovattupuzha in Ernakulam. When she returned, the child was missing. She raised an alarm, searching the premises for her son. It was neighbours who traced the child, with the head to the bottom of the bucket. They rushed him to hospital but in vain. Bhavani Amma, who fainted on seeing the child’s body, was admitted to hospital.

Sai Raj was delivered through a Caesarean section on April 12, 2004 and the retired school teacher, Bhavani Amma, was one of the oldest mothers for a first-time conception.
