Doha: Ooredoo today announced the expansion of its Managed Connectivity Platform to Qatar, taking the number of countries covered by the service to four, alongside Indonesia, Tunisia and Kuwait.

Ooredoo is set to launch an upgraded suite of Internet of Things (IoT) services for Qatar at the upcoming QITCOM digital event, taking place in Doha from 6-8 March 2017.

In expanding the service to major markets, Ooredoo is positioning itself as a leading regional IoT player, and the company is in discussion at The Mobile World Congress 2017 ending today in Spain, with a number of global leaders looking to use its network during this week’s Mobile World Congress. It has expanded the service to other Ooredoo markets in the subsequent years, and is increasingly working with multinational companies looking to apply global IoT solutions in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia.

Ooredoo launched its Device Connection Platform (DCP) with Ericsson for customers in Indonesia during the 2015 Mobile World Congress, enabling companies to deploy innovative technologies to create connected solutions.

Group CEO at Ooredoo Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani said, "Ooredoo sees significant opportunities for working with device manufacturers and IoT solution providers across our footprint, since we provide a world-class network and unmatched local knowledge that enables the rapid deployment of IoT technology.

During this year’s Mobile World Congress, we are meeting with some of the largest players in the world, who are keen to work with Ooredoo in the MENA region and Southeast Asia in order to provide a truly global solution," he added.

Ooredoo is working with a wide range of enterprises, government and small businesses to develop solutions on its IoT platforms.

One of the key services provided by Ooredoo is the Managed Connectivity solution IoT Connect. This service includes a central control dashboard, IoT Connect Manager, which provides companies with a comprehensive overview of its IoT connectivity and gives them total control over the whole inventory.
