Documentary photographs representing Latin American will be presented at Katara 

 

Weekend is upon us. And we have a pleasant climate to enjoy it too. Head outdoors and check out some of the events happening in Doha that have been listed below;  

Symbols of Latin America and the Caribbean  

Katara Art Studio will host documentary photographs representing 11 Latin American countries in five categories namely the country capital, national animal, national plant or flower, national dish and the historical monument.

When: Till March 15 (10 am to 10pm)

Video Games Live

Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra is organising Video Games Live, a concert featuring music from the most popular video games on Friday at 8pm.  An one of a kind entertainment atmosphere will be recreated at Doha with the help of video footage, music arrangements, lights, electronic percussion and so on. 

When: March 4, 8pm

The Mourning Forest by Naomi Kawase 

Qumra Screenings

Musuem of Islamic Art Auditorium will screen the modern masters and new voices in Cinema. The Qumra Screenings include the Modern Masters series – a showcase of films presented by the Qumra Masters, including Palme d’Or winner Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Caméra d’Or winner Naomi Kawase, Academy Award nominees Joshua Oppenheimer and James Schamus, and Golden Lion winner Aleksandr Sokurov. In addition, the New Voices in Cinema series highlights critically acclaimed films funded by the Doha Film Institute. 

Some of the movies to be screened include Mediterranea by Jonas Carpignano; Preceded by The Palm Tree; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon by Ang Lee; The Mourning Forest by Naomi Kawase, etc. 

When: March 4 to 9; 4pm onwards

Where: Museum of Islamic Art Auditorium
