Qatari athletes shine at Asian Beach Games in Vietnam

Da Nang, Vietnam: Cherif Samba and Jefferson Pereira outplayed Julio Junior and Ahmed Tijan Janko in an all-Qatari men’s beach volleyball final of the prestigious fifth Asian Beach Games 2016 in Da Nang, Vietnam yesterday.
Qatar Team 1, comprised of Samba and Pereira had no difficulty in beating their fellow countrymen, Team 2, in straight sets of 2-0 (21/14,21/15) in the final to win the gold medal.
 Qatar team 1 reached the final after defeating Indonesian duo 2-0 (21/17 and 21/15). Likewise, Qatar team 2 booked place in the final stage, following a convincing 2-0 victory over Kazakhstan. 
Qatar also bagged the men’s beach handball gold medal yesterday when they beat Oman 2-1 (23-22) (22-24) (6-2) in the final. 
The team comprised of Mohab Mahfouz, Ali Garba, Ahmed Abdelhak, Amir Denguir, Mohamed Hassan, Anis Zouaoui, Sid Kenaoui, Hani Kakhi, Mutasem Mohamed and Ahmed Morgan.
This was Qatar’s fifth gold medal during the event. In addition to that, they have also won one silver and a bronze medal.
The 5th Asian Beach Gems conclude today.
