Formation day of Kerala observed

Doha: Hundreds of people flocked to the Friends Cultural Centre ( FCC) auditorium yesterday to join the activities jointly organised by FCC and Media Plus to mark the 60th Kerala piravi, the formation of the south Indian state of Kerala.
Indian ambassador P Kumaran was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the commendable strides made by the Keralite community and asked them to keep up the good works and add reputation to the country. “During my meetings, the Qatari authorities have shared their good views about the Indian community in the country and Keralite community has played a very important role in building this reputation. India is a beautiful garden and Kerala is an important part of the garden. This will add total beauty of the nation as a whole,” he said.
Ambassador asked the Indians in Qatar to connect with the mission using social media and the embassy website so that the embassy can reach out to all Indians in Qatar in all ways possible.
He also asked the community to promote tourism and investment in India especially using Kerala as the best destination for ayurveda and wellness programmes.
He cautioned the community about the exploitations and cheating related to recruitment. Ambassador urged the community to promote Pravasi Bharatiya Divas scheduled for January 2017 by massive participation.
Habeeburahman Kizhissery, the executive director of FCC, delivered the keynote address. He underlined the importance of retaining communal harmony and values in the society to ensure peaceful existence and fraternity between various communities in the state.
Unless we initiate a change the trends and course of the society there can be no change in the state, he said.
ICC president K.Gireesh Kumar, IBPN President KMVarghese, INCAS President KK Usman, were present at the event.
