In an interview with Al Jazeera late last night Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said Qatar’s strategic option is to settle any dispute through dialogue.
Our relations with Washington will not be driven by extremist marginalised institutions he added, noting that the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, postponed his speech to the nation in response to the call of the Emir of Kuwait.
Asked about the reasons standing behind the crisis sheikh Mohammed said “We do not know exactly what are the real reasons for the current crisis”, and if there were real reasons so why all these media propaganda are targeting Qatar and its sovereignty.
Recently we noticed there is inciting campaign against us by Ambassadors of some GCC countries.
Closure of borders of the three counties will not affect the normal life of citizens and residence. There are efforts to impose guardianship on Qatar which is totally rejected by us.
Unfortunately we saw arrows heading towards us from inside the GCC States
We received several calls from friendly and brotherly countries expressing solidarity with Qatar.
The latest escalation against Qatar is proceeded by unprecedented provocative campaign.
After what happened there is question about the future of the GCC, as the system has been used to impose guardianship on member country and interference in its own affairs directly addressing the citizens.
