Rio de Janeiro: The 31st Summer Olympic Games, Rio 2016, officially kicked off on Friday night with opening ceremony at Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
The opening ceremony was attended by H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, QOC President and Head of the official delegation of Qatar along with a number of QOC officials and heads of the Qatari Sports Federations.
Rider Sheikh Ali bin Khalid Al Thani, Qatar flag bearer, led his country's delegation at the Opening Ceremony at Maracana Stadium.
Qatar takes part in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with the largest delegation in the history of its participation at the Olympics. The Qatari delegation includes 38 athletes representing 10 Federations of handball, athletics, archery, equestrian, beach volleyball, table tennis, swimming, boxing, weightlifting and judo.
