Rapid Qatarisation in govt schools: Minister
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi, Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti and other dignitaries at the World Teachers’ Day celebrations yesterday.

Under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar celebrated World Teachers’ Day in an event organised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education at the Qatar National Convention Center.
The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud. Speaking at the event, Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi said the Ministry had Qatarised about 80 percent of senior and middle positions at government schools at the level of academic deputies, administrative deputies and coordinators of subjects to give Qatari personnel the opportunity to take leadership positions.
A number of Their Excellences ministers, undersecretaries and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the state also attended the celebration.
The Minister honoured 100 senior teachers for their role in the educational system in Qatar. Dr Al Hammadi said the celebration of World Teachers’ Day is an indication of Qatar’s international commitments and obligations and embodies its Islamic values inherent in its tradition and culture.  He reiterated the importance of the directives of  Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the speech addressed to the citizens and residents of Qatar on July 21, especially the Emir’s call for self-reliance and rejecting dependency.
