Mercury to dip below 10 degrees in southern areas

Temperatures in some southern areas of the country is expected to dip below 10 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow, according to the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD). The weather bureau has warned that visibility will be reduced and the sea could be tumultuous today with strong winds.

Yesterday, temperature at Turayna, near the Inland Sea area, reached 13.5 degrees, MET department announced on their social media sites.

“The minimum temperature in the southern parts of the country is expected to drop around 10 degrees Celcius, in the next two days,” the MET department announced yesterday.

The maximum temperature today will be 22 and 21 degrees in most places outside Doha while the minimum temperature will vary between 18 to 13 degrees. In Doha the temperature will be 23 to 18 degrees Celsius.

The department also said that the wind speed had reached 30 knots offshore and wave height reached 10 feet at various places at times, on social media sites. The bureau has continued its warnings of strong wind and high seas and cautioned against going to sea.

Today, the weather will be windy with low visibility at places.
