DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has provided several tips to parents on ‘back to school’ to help them plan their purchases and save money, and also to help them choose the best educational institutions for their children during the new academic year.
The Ministry has advised parents to prepare a list of educational institutions, both government and private, for comparison. The comparison should include such factors like the fees they charge, the quality of education and facilities etc taking into consideration the value of educational vouchers given by the government and the amount they will be required to spend.
The Ministry has also advised people to avoid paying high prices for school stationery and books etc and choose shops which offer them at low prices.
It has also urged parents to teach their children a culture of savings and encourage them to buy only the necessary items and keep them.
The Ministry said it decided to provide these tips considering that family budgets are under strain as the ‘back to school’ season comes after Ramadan, two Eids and the summer vacation.
