Cross-border fire from Syria hits Turkish border town, agency says

ISTANBUL: Shelling from Syria hit a Turkish border town on Tuesday for the second day in a row, Dogan News Agency said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries after two shells hit a residential area in Kilis on Tuesday, according to Dogan.

On Monday, 12 people were hurt when rocket fire hit the town of Kilis near the Syrian border, prompting the Turkish military to fire howitzers in retaliation.

It was not immediately clear who fired at Kilis this week. The area across the border is controlled by Islamic State.
