El Bayoumy shines at Doha tennis

Doha: Amir El Bayoumy won the Men’s Singles title at the 8th QTF InterContinental Doha defeating Ghassen Salah Al Ansi in the final at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex on Monday night.
El Bayoumy, partnering with Sultan Khalfan, went on to register a double as he pocketed the Men’s Doubles title overcoming the stiff challenge of Cliff Acaso and Reynaldo Amazona.
Around 350 players competed in the 22 categories from different nationalities along with a number of national team players, with a few of them topping in some categories.
Qatar national team player Ola Basel clinched the Women’s Singles crown while Issa Shanan took the first place in Boys U-18 category. In Boys Doubles U10, the team of Mesha’al Al Khenji and Turki Al Abdallah won the title  beating  Ghanim Zeinal and Abdallah Al Ghazal.
In Girls U9, Amna Hmoud could also reach the final but lost to Fatima Sravanti Enn in the title clash. By holding such events, QTF aims to expand the base of tennis in the country and also to provide both professionals and amateurs the opportunity to compete in professional ambience   
Tariq Zeinal; General Secretary Assistant at Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) said: “QTF & InterContinental event booked its place as one of the most important tournaments in QTF’s local events calendar. It reflects the strategy followed by QTF to spread the game and increase its popularity among Qatari Youth.”
 Cyril Mouawad; Executive Assistant Manager at InterContinental Doha and a number of sponsors representatives  of Art&Art and Thai Smile were present along with QTF officials.
 InterContinental Doha Hotel  presented gifts and vouchers with a value of QR 100,000  to the winners in addition to QR 40,000 presented by QTF.
