Most parts of the country received intermittent rains yesterday. The Meteorology Department has forecast more rains today as the unstable weather conditions are expected to continue until Friday.

From Saturday, a Siberian high pressure would bring about a noticeable drop in temperatures.

The unstable weather conditions are expected to intensify from tomorrow evening until Friday, with rains becoming moderate to heavy accompanied by thunder over most areas. Wind would be north-easterly to southerly of varied speed.

From Saturday dawn, the Siberian High pressure system is expected to affect the country. This will result in north-westerly winds over most areas, until Monday. There would be a noticeable drop in temperatures especially at night and early morning, along with high waves, according to the weather bureau.

Today the weather will be hazy to misty, with scattered rain at times accompanied by thunder at times at places. The weather bureau has warned of low visibility that can become less than 2km at times at places. Wind speed could go up to 25 knots and wave heights could reach 10 feet during thunderstorm.

The temperature in Doha will range between 22 and 19 degrees Celsius, while in Al Wakrah and Messaeed, the temperature will be between 23 and 17 degrees Celsius.

Ruwais, Dukhan and Abu Samrah will have a maximum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Dukhan and Abu Samrah will be 16 degrees Celsius and in Ruwais the minimum temperature is expected to be 17 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday, the country saw intermittent rains of varied intensity. Ras Laffan received the highest rain with 21.3 mm recorded until 8:40pm.

Al Jamiliyah received 19.5mm of rainfall, followed by Al Guwayriyah (16.3mm), Al Khor (15mm), Qatar University (14.3mm), Al Shehaimiya (14mm) Dukhan (13.5mm), Abu Hamour (12.2mm), and Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport receiving 10.6mm rainfall.

The rain emergency preparedness team drained more than 3 million gallons of rain water, equivalent to 733 tanker loads, logged in various parts of the country since yesterday morning until noon.

Much of this was drained from highways and roads to ease the traffic flow, according to the authorities.

Work is in full swing to remove remaining water obstructing the interior roads in residential areas.

Some 374 workers, 151 tankers and 45 pumps have been stationed to clear water logging.
