Pakistan Embassy marks Independence Day

The Pakistan embassy yesterday celebrated the country’s 70th Independence Day with traditional gaiety and fervour.
Starting with National Anthem playing in the backdrop, Ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar, Shahzad Ahmad, hoisted the national flag on the embassy premises early in the morning to kick off the celebrations.
Following a protocol, the envoy read out the felicitation messages from Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister for the Pakistani nationals living in Qatar.
The ambassador then went on to congratulate men, women and children from the community and embassy officials in attendance in large numbers at the ceremony. Guests from all walks of life interacted with each other and congratulated officers and staff of the embassy on the Independence Day.
They expressed their happiness and exchanged views with the ambassador and other officers.
Talking to The Peninsula, Hafiz Junaid Amir Sial, Community Welfare Attaché’, Embassy of Pakistan to Qatar, said: “I would like to congratulate every Pakistani citizen living in Pakistan or representing Pakistani outside its territorial limits on the beautiful and auspicious occasion of its 70th Independence day. My message to Pakistani citizens is to contribute in the betterment of this country. Today what we are is because of this country, I urge upon all the nationals of this great nation that time is right that we all realise this fact that justifying independence calls for individual effort and contribution at all levels. I believe that Pakistan over past seven decades despite all odds has progressed significantly and one of the basic reason behind that is the ideology of its creation.”
“We all stand together as a nation and our motivation to make Pakistan ideal, peaceful and progressive country is increasing day by day. It is time that we pay off through our hard-work and passion. If we all improve ourselves in a way that whatever task we are assigned with and we should do it with full zeal and vigour, the day is not far that Pakistan’s progress will be quoted as an example,” he added.
Children from Sohni Dharti, a socio-cultural forum of expatriate Pakistanis, sang melodious National songs.
Rana Anwar Ali, Chairman of Sohni Dharti, said: “Today Pakistani nation is celebrating its 70th Independence day with pride. This is the land of peace of loving people. This land is blessed with all seasons and a landscape which attracts towards a natural beauty. Beauty of mountains, natural water fall, lavish green, A wide desert and a deep sea you can find only in Pakistan. We proud of rich culture and tradition. As a great nation we always remember our heroes because of their struggle and hard work, Pakistan appeared on the map of the world. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, said: ‘Pakistan not only means freedom and independence but the Muslim ideology which has to be preserved, which has come to us as a precious gift and treasure and which, we hope other will share with us.’”
Celebration of Independence Day is held all over the world on August 14, organised by Pakistani embassies and Pakistan cultural and community organisations. On the occasion, Pakistanis express their solidarity and love for their homeland.
