Kids Come Along upsets Beton in PIBAQ contest

The elimination round of the Premiere Division ended in a rollercoaster game between the two undefeated teams. Kids Come Along started the game on fire as they erected a 10 point lead to end the first quarter, but the offensive prowess of Niٌo Gelig and Rodel Mallari answered back to put Beton on top at the half by 11. With the momentum on Beton’s side, Kids Come Along relied on their defence to get back in the game then launched an offensive assault led by the trio of Jeff Cristobal, Edwin Peremne and Jeffrey Defensor.
With Kids Come Along leading by 10 and just 2 minutes remaining in the game, Jonathan Domangcas and Mallari unloaded a couple of treys but the steady hands on the stripe of Francis Mercado made sure that every foul committed by Beton would be converted to two made free throws. Gelig led all scorers with 25 followed by Mallari with 17 for Beton, while Defensor phased KCA with 22 supported by Peremne with 18 and 17 by Mercado, the final score KCA 80 – 75 Beton.
The best of 3 semi-final series is now set for the Premiere Division wherein top seed, Kids Come Along will play 4th seed, Lucky Seven while 2nd place Beton will face 3 Stars and A Sun. In other games, Doha Dessert eliminated Warrior Cats 78-54 in Rising DIvision A, while Kids Come Along (Rising) beat P4P 79-68 advancing to the bracket finals in Rising Division B. In the Inter-company Division, Aktor edged Ministry in a hotly contested match with the final score 67-63 to advance to the Division Finals.
