Ooredoo, Alcatel-Lucent sign agreement for IP transport networks
 

Doha: Ooredoo Group has signed a five-year frame supply agreement with Alcatel-Lucent covering the technology evolution and latest innovations relating to ultra-broadband IP and transport networks and will benefit operations across the Ooredoo footprint in Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific and Southeast Asia, Ooredoo said Tuesday in a press release.
As a result of this agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will supply state-of-the-art, full packet microwave, high bandwidth optical networking and IP routing platforms which will enhance Ooredoo's customers' experience, whether it is for rich communications, watching video entertainment from fixed/mobile devices or accessing cloud-based business applications. Alcatel-Lucent is also providing its professional services expertise including network management services.

Our agreement with Alcatel-Lucent builds on our long-standing collaboration with this international leader and strengthens our network as we continue to strive to enrich our customers' lives by providing cutting-edge digital and mobile services," Ooredoo Group COO Ahmed Al Derbesti said.
The new agreement follows Ooredoo's strategy to enhance network performance across its global footprint, to deliver a superior online experience for customers and to provide the foundations for a new wave of smart services. 
In turn, Alcatel-Lucent COO and Sales Officer Philippe Guillemot expressed delight to work together with Ooredoo to deliver its IP routing and transport solutions to "meet the challenges of a networking landscape evolving to address the shift to video, cloud-based services and massive networking traffic growth."
