Vodafone Qatar has now recovered the company’s network on 2G voice and 3G voice calls to Vodafone numbers, international calls and data capability.
Vodafone is continuing to work towards full restoration of all services as soon as possible, the company’s said in a press release yesterday.
Vodafone Qatar experienced a major network outage with their Home Location Register (HLR), a key hardware component of their core network. Home Location Register failure directly impacts the ability to make and receive calls and data sessions.
The equipment failure took place during a network upgrade and extended to the network back-up and redundancy systems.
Ian Gray, CEO, Vodafone Qatar said, “The network outage is extremely disappointing and unprecedented. Our team is working around the clock to resolve the issue. We apologise to all customers who have been affected by this incident and thank them for their patience. We also want to assure customers that the whole Vodafone organisation is committed to regaining their trust and satisfaction.”
Once full service has been restored, Vodafone Qatar will address the issue of recognising the customer inconvenience that has arisen as a consequence of this event through an appropriate means of compensation.
