Visitors at 'Made in China' exhibition held at the Doha Exhibitions & Convention Center.
The bilateral trade between Qatar and China reached QR21.5bn in 2015. The trade between the two countries has reached QR17.7bn so far in 2016 said Li Chen, Chinese Ambassador to Qatar.
Speaking during ‘Made in China Exhibition’, he expressed hope that the bilateral trade between the two countries will grow further.
The exhibition, held at the Doha Exhibitions & Convention Center and concluded on Saturday, was co-organised by Qatar Chamber and China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges. The four-day exhibition aimed to promote quality Chinese products and contributes to cementing economic and trade ties between Qatar and China. Qatar Chamber Director General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi said number of visitors during the four days exceeded 6,000 where they were briefed more than 200 high quality products by Chinese companies.
He said that the 200 Chinese firms that took part in this year edition are different than those in the first edition.
“Next year edition will witness participation of new districts and firms that didn’t participate in the two last editions,” he said. “The number of Chinese companies that participated in the exhibition has almost doubled this year.
This shows how important Qatari market is to China, and the depth of the relations between the two countries,” he said.The exhibition was a good opportunity to open the markets of the region for Chinese companies; it created a platform for making productive partnerships with their counterparts in the region, he added.
The exhibition represented an ideal opportunity for raising the awareness of the importance of using the Yuan in investment and trade transactions. It aimed to promote quality Chinese products and contributes cementing economic and trade ties between China and region countries, he noted.
He also said that 2016 is the Qatar-China Culture year and the culture exchange between the two countries will certainly enhance the economic and business relations between the two countries, besides the friendly cooperation in other related fields.
Qatar Chamber Director General added that the aim of the expo was not only enhancing Qatar-china bilateral trade and economic cooperation spheres, but it sought boosting the cultural communication between the two peoples as well.
A ‘Qatar-China Forum’ was held on the sidelines of the exhibition to provide an ideal platform for businessmen to discuss investment opportunities and challenges facing expanding investments in both sides.
