A five-day Samurai Festival opened here yesterday showcasing Japan as it recovers from the effects of the 2011 earthquake. The event exhibits Japan as pushing itself forward powerfully and introduces its pop, traditional cultures and sports to the people here. As part of the festival, a Mobile Mosque Car will be unveiled today, presenting Japan’s efforts for world peace.
The mobile facility that will offer necessary services, equipment, space for prayer, whenever and wherever needed is manufactured with collaboration of various Qatari establishments. A heavy duty truck has been modified to facilitate the mobile mosque.
The festival will have a traditional Kimono Show that will demonstrate the look, touch and experience of wearing the traditional attire. Kendo, a modern Japanese martial art will also be demonstrated. Various films highlighting Japanese tradition including “Sanma and Qatar” will be screened. A disaster prevention lecture and a talk show by Yoichi Takahashi, author of soccer animation cartoon “Captain Tsubasa” commonly called “Captan Majid” in the region, among the others are also organised as part of the event at Hilton Doha.
