Stage set for Men’s Youth Handball Championship

The Qatar Handball Association (QHA) announced the schedule of Qatar Men’s Youth International Friendly Handball Championship to be staged on the sidelines of the 2017 IHF Super Globe from August 25 to 28.
The championship will feature the participation of three teams including Oman, Iran and hosts Qatar.
The opening match will be held on Friday, in which Iran will clash against Oman.
The Qatari squad will include Hassanain Aziz, Ahmad Mohammad Al Sulaiti, Jassim Jabor Al Sulaiti, Ahmad Abdullah Al Kharousi, Belal bin Masoud, Talal Mohammad Al Darwish, Hamad Mohammad Al Saadi, Saifaldin Nasser Salim, Khalid Saif, Ibrahim Al Hitmi, Nasser Mohammad Al Kebaisi, Ali Medhat Abdulhadi, Hassan Basheer Mohammad, Abdullah Mohammad Al Sharqawi, Abdulrahman Maher Hassan, Abdullah Al Dosari and Thenyan Khalifa.
Meanwhile, Al Sadd’s handball team yesterday announced their squad for the IHF Super Globe.
The club’s Algerian head coach Chouaib Kafi named a 16-man squad for the tournament, which features the likes of defending champions Fuchse Berlin of Germany, African runner-ups Esperance Sportive de Tunis, Asian runner-ups Naft and Gaz Gachsaran, Oceania champions Sydney University, Pan American Club Championship winners EC Pinheiros of Brazil, European champions RK Vardar, Barcelona who participate thanks to a wildcard and hosts Al Sadd.
Al Sadd face Sydney University on the opening day, which also sees Esperance Sportive take on Barcelona, Macedonian side RK Vardar play Iran’s Naft and Gaz, and Fuchse Berlin face EC Pinheiros.
The semifinals are scheduled for August 26 before the final match two days later.
Al Sadd are aiming to replicate their past form in the tournament, which they won in 2002 and came second twice in 2010 and 2014, and third in 2012.
