The third International Day of Yoga was celebrated by the Embassy of India and Indian Sports Centre at Wakrah Sports Club with a session on yoga and wellness for a large number of participants of various nationalities.

The session was inaugurated by Sheikha Athba Al Thani and P Kumaran, Ambassador of India to Qatar. More than 500 participants of various age groups, including ambassadors and members of diplomatic corps from various countries participated in the Yoga session.

Ambassador Kumaran said that the time-tested practice of yoga, which is an art and science for holistic living, is highly useful in today’s stressful lifestyle. India’s resolution at the United Nations general assembly was unanimously adopted in December 2014 with the co-sponsorship of 177 countries including the State of Qatar.

Indian Sports Centre President Nilangshu Dey highlighted the role of Indian Sports Centre in promoting Yoga among the Indian community in Qatar.
