Qatar SC go down fighting in Slovenia

Qatar SC lost 2-1 to Slovenian side Celia in a friendly match on Tuesday evening at the Kings ‘Slovenian pre-season training camp.

The match acted as a good training exercise for the recently promoted team as they will face Al Duhail in the first round of the Qatari League.

Qatar SC’s lone goal was scored by Qatari midfielder Ali Awad from a penalty kick. His goal however was not enough as the Slovenian hosts won the game 2-1.

Gabriel Calderon’s men are expected to return to Doha on next Monday.

They will be looking forward to their return to the League as they face Al Duhail on the opening day.

Elsewhere, Al Sailiya, who are currently on their preseason training camp in Tunisia, faced Algerian side ES Ben Aknoun in a friendly on Monday. The match was part of the Peregrines preparations for the 2017/2018 season.

Sami Trabelsi’s men ended up drawing the game against the Algerian opposition with a final score of 2-2.

Qatari player Mohammed Mudather scored the first goal while Romanian professional Valentin Lazar scored the second for Al Sailiya to get their names on the score sheet and ensure both sides were honours even at full time.
