Mirza to lead Qatar Under-19 at Division two Asia Qualifiers

DOHA: All-rounder Hamad Mirza Baig will lead the Qatar juniors at the Division two Asia Qualifiers for the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The 10-nation tournament will start today and will conclude on October 6.
Qatar will meet Singapore in their opening fixture at the Royal Selangor Club Oval in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.   
The top two teams of the tournament will be promoted to the Division one ICC Asia Qualifier to be held next year.
The Division one tournament is also the pathway to 2018 ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup.  
The participating teams are, hosts Malaysia, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand and The United Arab Emirates.
“This tournament will give all the teams and the administrators in Asia, an opportunity to establish the ranking of the 10 participating teams” said Bandula Warnapura, ICC Asia Consultant and former ICC Asia Regional Development Manager.
 “We are privileged and honored to be hosting the first tournament of ICC Asia. MCA will certainly do the very best to stage a successful tournament,” said Clarence Selvam, Malaysian Cricket Association General Manager. 
The matches will be played at Kinrara Oval, Club Aman Oval, Bayuemas Oval and Royal Selangor Club Oval.
