Engineer Mohammed Arqoub Al-Khaldi, Head of Roads Projects in Doha City in Ashghal, explained that the project included the development and widening of the main streets surrounding the area of Duhail Sports Club, with a total length of about 9.5 kilometre. The Arab League Street, located between Jeryan Nejaima and Leabaib intersections and which is a major part of the project, as well as Duhail Street, were developed by increasing their number of lanes from two to three lanes with service roads in both directions with a total length of 14 kilometre As part of this project, Tarfa, Qotaifan, Wadi Al Gaeya, and Al Shefallahiya Streets have also witnessed improvement works.

Ashghal converted Leabaib Roundabout (previously known as Radar Roundabout) to a signal-controlled intersection with three main lanes, three lanes to turn left,  and one right turn lane on each side of the intersection. Jeryan Nejaima Roundabout, near the North Atlantic College, was also converted to a signal-controlled intersection with three main lanes and a right turn lane on all sides of the intersection, along with three lanes to turn left for those coming from Arab League Street, and two lanes to turn left for those coming from Duhail Street. In order to increase the road capacity and enhance traffic flow in the area, the roundabout located between Al Shefallahiya and Duhail Streets was converted into an intersection, a new intersection between Wadi Al Gaeya and Tarfa Streets was constructed, and the intersection between Qotaifan and Tarfa Streets was developed.

Project works also included the construction of a surface water (storm water) drainage system as well as the construction of the main lines for the sewage drainage system in the area through 3 kilometre micro-tunneling works. This is in addition to enhancing traffic safety and improving traffic movement in the areaby constructing about 12 kilometre of cycle lanes, installing about 350 lighting poles, providing car parking areas and implementing road pavement and landscaping works. The project also included the provision of infrastructure for electricity and communications utility as well as an Intelligent Transport System.

Throughout the project period, Ashghal was keen on opening to traffic the completed lanes and parts of the streets and intersections immediately after they were completed and until all the development works in the area were finalised. Entrances of houses and local roads were kept open throughout the project period.
