27 organisations take part in Indian Sports Centre tournament

Indian Sports Centre  (ISC), an apex body of Indian Embassy , in association with Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA) organised Inter Organization and Inter Company Table Tennis Tournament on August 24 & 25 at QTTA Training Centre, Ras Bu Aboud. This tournament is the first initiative of Indian Sports Centre in organising inter-organisation tournaments in various categories. A total of 27 Indian organisations comprising of more than 150 males and females participated in this tournament.

Indian Spinners bagged the Overall Championship trophy. Men Singles Winner and Runners up in 19 to 30 years age group category are Shubham Agarwal and Mizam Jafer of Texas A & M University Alumni. Men Singles Winner and Runners up in above 30 years age group category are Vikram Arora and Kunal of Indian Spinners. Women singles Winner and Runners up in above 30 years age group category are Rukkaiya Pachisa of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India Doha Chapter and Fariha Abdul Aziz. In Mens Team event category, Indian Spinners participated by Vikram Arora, Kunal, Mohsin, Ashwin and Masood became the Winner and Karnataka Sangha Qatar participated by Chetan, Prasad, Amarnath, Harsha and Gopal Krishna became Runners Up.

A separate category was made for employees of all nationalities of various Indian managed companies where 10 companies like Larsen & Toubro , Galfar Al Misnad, Apparel Group, Qatar Design Consortium, Al Muftah Contracting ,Coastal group, Alumasa Qatar, Vijay Arabia Fire & Security etc participated.

 

 

Larsen & Toubro bagged the Overall Champion Trophy . The Men Singles Winner and Runners up in 21 to 35 years age group category are Adarsh Jaiswal of Larsen & Toubro and Anmol Thapa of Apparel Qatar . Men Singles Winner and Runners up in above 35 years age group category are Rushkesh Jogdand and Antony Ravi of Larsen & Toubro. Men Doubles Winner and Runners up in 21 to 35 years age group category are Adarsh Jaiswal and Shiladitya Kishore of Larsen & Toubro and Rajeev Thakur & Anmol Thapa of Apparel Qatar. Men Doubles Winner and Runners up in above 35 years age group category was Antony Ravi and Ramprasath and Rushkesh Jogdand and Ajay Jain of Larsen & Toubro.

The closing ceremony started with an exhibition Match in Singles and Doubles category between Indian Embassy team led by P Kumaran, Ambassador of India to Qatar, and Indian community team. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by the Ambassador as Chief Guest and Thani Al Zarraa, QTTA Board Member, as Guest of Honour along with Indian community leaders.

Nilangshu Dey, President of Indian Sports Centre, welcomed the guests and highlighted the mission of this newly-formed sports body under Embassy of India and its achievements during the last eight months.

The Ambassador encouraged such initiative taken by Indian Sports Centre in developing sports initiatives among the entire Indian community and thanked Qatar Table Tennis Association in providing all their infrastructure facilities to promote the game among the Indian community.

Thani Al Zarraa appreciated the initiative in promoting table tennis among the community and assured to provide similar facility in all their future endeavours. M S Bukhari , chairman Corporate of ISC also spoke during the occasion. Mega Mart was the title sponsor. The program was compered by Simon D Silva , Head of Indoor Games of Indian Sports Centre.
