Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has opened two lanes of Duhail Street in the direction from Jeryan Nejaima Junction to Al Shamal Road.
This stretch had been closed to develop the street and increase the number of lanes to three.
For safety of road users and project workers, the third lane has been built and will open to traffic once development works in the area are completed. The opposite direction of the street is expected to open to traffic in mid-December.
Ashghal has also closed part of the service road on Duhail Street at the intersection between Duhail Street and Al Shefallahiya Street, while keeping access to entrances of homes and local roads open to traffic.
The entrance to Duhail Street from Al Shamal Road side has also been closed. The closure will be in place until mid-December.
Ashghal opened last July part of Arab League Street, which forms the main part of the development of roads surrounding Lekhwiya Camp in Area 30 in Duhail project.
The project includes developing roads surrounding the camp from three directions (north, east and south) to accommodate traffic in the area, build and develop five intersections and build service roads and car parking areas.
Project works also include construction of a surface water drainage system (for storm water), micro-tunnelling for drainage networks, roads pavement, provision of infrastructure for electricity and communications and an Intelligent Transport System.
