Doha: Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, the five-star luxury hotel, joined forces with Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) for the ‘Let Us Join Hands’ event for children, organised to empower kids of our community fighting cancer and raise their spirits.

The special event took place on Monday at Al Rayyan Conference Hall in the hotel. QCS and the hotel welcomed children and their families who participated in fun-filled games and activities. The kids clapped, danced and sang along to live musical entertainment.

The event was planned by the hotel in collaboration with QCS to raise awareness about paediatric cancer in support of a global corporate social responsibility initiative where employees at the hotel and offices around the world volunteer throughout the year as part of the Starwood ‘Together As One’ campaign. On the local level, the hotel is committed to giving back in-kind to the community and associate volunteerism.

“By organising ‘Let Us Join Hands’ in partnership with QCS, we were able to commemorate the children for their bravery and bring happiness into their world by sharing one special day where these kids can enjoy themselves,” said Nick Heath, Complex General Manager of the hotel.

“We were delighted to have partnered with the hotel to spotlight the disease. Worldwide every three minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. It is imperative that we remain vigilant in the search for a cure. It’s also important that we remember that these children endure treatments and an occasion such as ‘Let Us Join Hands’ is the perfect way for all of us to join hands to fight cancer and a wonderful way for the young cancer patients to have fun and just be kids again,” said Maryam Hamad Al Noaimi, General Manager, QCS.
