Sudanese Minister praises Qatar's role in Darfur stability

Khartoum: Sudanese State Minister at the Ministry of Industry Abdo Dawood Suleiman has praised the role of the State of Qatar in establishing lasting peace in the Darfur region of Sudan through the Doha Peace Agreement.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Sudanese Minister said that the relations between the two countries were characterized by the generous joint contributions of the two countries in various fields, pointing out that the Qatari investments boosted the economic stability in the country by diversity in the fields of construction and upgrading of service and agricultural facilities.

He said that the Doha peace agreement played a major role in achieving sustainable peace and stability in Darfur. The Qatari efforts exceeded the peace process by supporting the programs of the Convention on the ground with generous and sincere contributions, including the establishment of model integrated villages and the promotion of voluntary programs and services for the displaced in their camps.

He pointed out that the Qatari support of the establishment of lasting peace in Darfur has not been stopped but continues as planned and is highly appreciated by the Sudanese government and people.

The official also stressed that the agreement enabled all to play their roles, the Ministry of Industry has trained thousands of Darfuris through industrial training project. It benefited IDPs in the camps, where they trained on small projects to improve their living conditions and transform them into productive societies. In addition, an integrated industrial rehabilitation program was implemented in all Darfur states and enabled them to export directly abroad, the export of industrial products directly from Darfur to China was witnessed last month.
