Al-Zubarah Fort & Shammal Town Trip Saturday, 30 April 2011 03:00

Dear Sir,

Sohni Dharti Forum organized Al-Zubarah Fort & Shammal Town Trip for Pakistani families on 30th of April’ 2011. Al-Zubarah Fort located at the northwestern coast of Qatar, 107 km from Doha. There is no admission fee.

There are around 200 people get-together including children. Al-Zubarah Fort serves as a pristine example of a typical Arab fort build using the traditional Qatari techniques. It was constructed with high, thick walls and three of the corners have large circular towers topped with Qatari-style battlements. The forth corner contains a striking rectangular tower with traditional triangular-based ledges with slits called machicolations that in the event of an attack were used to shoot at enemies. Eight rooms on the ground floor, which were originally used to accommodate soldiers. The second floor level consists of a wide promenade and a few rooms tucked inside the corner towers. The wall of these rooms feature groups of gunfire holes that are angled in different directions.

This fort, and the town in which it sit, are extraordinarily important pieces in the early development of Qatar, and ones that shouldn’t be missed.

Children were much energized to see the fort. It was worth the trip, lot of great photo opportunities. Sohni Dharti was organized games like ball catch for men, ladies and children. The families were really enjoyed specially children all over a day. In the end, Sohni Dharti was served refreshment. Children were enjoyed to eat Mc happy meal.

I really enjoyed with my family. I am in Qatar last 12 years and first time I seen Al-Zubarh fort for the reason that of Sohni Dharti. This is true that our first home land is Pakistan and Qatar is  2nd home land.

I would like to thank H.H. the Emir of the State of  Qatar, Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, where both nationals and expatriates are enjoying a peaceful and prosperous life.

I would also thank to Chairman of Sohni Dharti Mr. Mohammad Khalid and President Mr. Anwar Ali, those are organized such a marvelous trip. His day and night efforts has made the trip successful.

Regards,
