Its right time the Indians force Anna Hazare to include all evils of Indian society in his movement Monday, 22 August 2011 03:00

22/08/11

Dear Anna Hazareji,

My best wishes to you on behalf of the NRIs  all over the world., in your holy mission in rooting out corruption from the lives of ordinary Indians. May the sense of  patriotism, truth and honesty prevail in the hearts of our leaders in passing the JAN LOK PAL Bill in the Parliament as soon as possible.

Its very heartening to note that although we are far away from our motherland, yet the patriotic feeling

and the anger for the indifferent attitude of the government/MPs in understanding the present grave situation, is increasing in us day by day. Time is ripe we correct all the faults / mistakes / wrong decisions of the rulers over the ruled in India.

No doubt corruption is the main issue presently in front of the people, but we all must consider the real cause of the increasing level of corruption and anti-people activities of the government servants (right from a 4th class staff to the chief secretary in the government offices).

The other issues are as follows :-

1) The faulty simple majority system of election mechanism (where a candidate is elected even though the majority of people don't want him/her to be elected)

2) The slow and ineffective judicial process in solving the grievances of ordinary people (the court cases go on for years)

3) The escape of criminal-minded, corrupt and anti-national leaders from the clutches of judiciary (due to deliberate weak cases filed by the govt prosecutor) eg.Amar Singh, Laloo, Hasan Ali Khan, etc

4) Lack of action against proven guilty persons who are still walking free (eg Tyler, Sajjan Kumar, etc)

5) Failure of real talent in every field to get recognition (scholarship, award, selection in state/national team, etc)

6) Evils of society like Child Marriage,Gender difference, Honour killings, etc present even after so much modernisation of India

7) Non-muslim citizens of India having more than 1 wife officially, and authorities being a mere onlooker

8) Increasing molestation and rape cases

9) Faulty seat reservations on the basis of caste in educational institutes and govt. jobs (where children of already benefited SC/ST/OBC families go on getting preferences, and the deserving candidates do not)

10) Holding to influential / monetarily benefiting positions by present MPs and MLAs (eg. Sharad Pawar is the BCCI chief, Rajiv Shukla is vice-president of BCCI, etc)

The list goes on.... and we are helplessly watching the notorious people eat away the fruits of the hardwork of our famous freedom fighter.

Now when we are all together fighting against corruption -- thanks to you and your team ( God only knows when will be the next time this happens again !!),  its right time to highlight the above cancerous symptoms which can render the ongoing 2nd freedom movement as a failure in real sense.

We must unite once and for all, in recognising the real issues in front of us, and highlight them in any way we can, so that we can correct the defects now itself, amidst the INDIA AGAINST CORRUPTION movement. Nor, it will be too late to get the real benefits of the ANSHAN undertaken by you  today.

We all know that the MPs And MLAs will render the JAN LOK PAL bill ineffective, like the other laws made in the past 64 years. Weren't Nehru, Shastri, Rajendra Prasad, Indira Gandhi, Vajpayee, etc great leaders who made good laws for the people of India. Then why are the people unhappy and disappointed today?  This is only due to amendments and parallel laws passed by the subsequent Parliaments which had unwanted and anti-people members elected due to faulty simple majority system of the election process. When the President can be elected by more effective Proportional Representation system of election, why not the MPs and MLAs ?

So, the answer to all the problems faced by us today, is directly or indirectly related to this defect of our so-called Democratic process of electing government !!!

Thank you

Rakesh Verma, Doha QATAR
