DOHA: Mazaya Qatar, a leading Qatari real estate company, for the first time is bringing annual training course on Islamic finance to Qatar, said a statement of the company yesterday.
The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), through the sole support of Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development Company, is to bring the annual training course on Islamic finance to Qatar from March 11-14, 2012.
The AAOIFI is an Islamic international non-for-profit corporate body that prepares accounting, auditing, governance, ethics and Shariah standards for Islamic financial institutions and the industry. It provides several professional qualification programs (notably CIPA, the corporate compliance programme, and in this case, the Shariah Adviser and Auditor course “CSAA”,) are presented now by AAOIFI in its efforts to enhance the industry’s human resources base and governance structures.
The AAOIFI is independent, supported by over 200 institutional members from 45 countries, including central banks, Islamic financial institutions, and other participants from the international Islamic banking and finance industry, worldwide.
The CSAA course programme is designed to equip candidates with the understanding and professional skills for Shari’a compliance and the review process for the international Islamic banking and finance industry.
Mazaya Qatar will be the sole sponsor of this course, something its CEO, Seraj Al Baker (pictured), believes is an important part of its own corporate identity.
“As a Shariah compliant company, we are committed to these principles, and the support of Islamic finance and financial institutions in the region. We are proud to be the company which brings this important training course to Qatar for the first time, and hope it is the first of many.”
The course is expected to have about 25 participants from various financial institutions across the country and region, and will take place at the conveniently-located Gloria Hotel in Doha, from March 11 to 14, 2012. Attendees will receive certification at the end of the course.
