Forum discusses emerging issues: PM Tuesday, 10 May 2011 04:00

Doha: The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani said yesterday that the Doha Forum addressed through its successive sessions, over eleven years, urgent and emerging issues and puts them to constructive and responsible dialogue in order to access the goals and objectives of all humanity.
Speaking at the opening session, the prime minister noted that the current meeting is taking place at a time when the whole region is witnessing significant political events and changes based on appeals and requirements from the people for political reforms based on the democratic approach that will bring their participation in the national issues and reach their hopes in the development, progress and prosperity.
He emphasised that the current circumstances in the Arab region and people’s determination to make change will impose on this session a dialogue which will draw the route of the way to behave with the new political powers in the region which will be reflected in the future economic and social development.
The prime minister praised the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani for sponsoring Doha Forum since its very beginning. He stressed that the success of the forum is due to the care, support and the follow-up of the Emir.
He welcomed the participants in this year’s Doha Forum and the Enriching The Middle East’s Economic Future Conference that will going to discuss a range of issues mainly energy, water security, peace future in the region, economics, trade, development, reforms and enriching the future through sports, media and its moral responsibilities.
