Eid: A day to purify hearts and seek mercy Friday, 17 September 2010 03:27
Eid is a religious event and great ritual that was not bestowed by The Heavens to the previous nations. It purifies the hearts of believers who became closer to Allah by performing religious ceremonies. Believers expect the mercy of Allah and fear His punishment.
People go to Eid prayer grounds to glorify Allah. The believers rant the air at the prayer ground by loudly praising Allah. Tears roll down theirs cheeks as the holy month of Ramadan has come to an end.
Allah gifted us the happy event of Eid in which the happiness overwhelms an entire family. The religious meaning of Eid is to thank Allah on the completion of devotion. It is not just enough to utter the word ‘gratitude’ by tongue but the heart of the believer should satisfy itself by showing happiness on this day. The social meaning of the Eid is the meeting of rich and poor people with love forgetting their social status as well as hate and enmity.
Physiologically Eid keeps away the believers from ill-will and gives them spiritual satisfaction. Moreover, people forget their problems on Eid and celebrate it. We can see the happiness in every single Muslim home and that is the true meaning of Eid. The family is the basic pillar of society, its members gather to greet one other and exchange gifts on the day of Eid. Everyone wants to make happy his family on this special day. The male member supports his family financially to meet the requirements. The woman’s role, on the other hand, is to take care of children and home.
People celebrate Eid in different ways — some spend time in public places and tourist resorts having good times with the family. Children spend these days by playing different types of games in the presence of their parents happily, which reflect on the positive impact on them psychologically. It is good opportunity for a couple to solve their rifts by recalling their old good days which they spent happily.
Such occasions like Eid create mercy in the hearts of the people that help them to solve inter-familial differences. People take benefit from Eid and use the occasion to bring about solutions for reconciliation and patch-up. On Eid day, children become full of joy, while the poor gets charity, Muslims forgive one other, friends strengthen their relations and generous people forget their differences and forgive one other.
