The God, messengers and the perfect truth Friday, 24 December 2010 02:07
By Abdunnasar Nadvi
There is no doubt that the human beings come to a clear consensus while talking about the existence of a Supreme Being who is behind the unflawed creation and design of the entire universe and its belongings. For an Arab he is Allah. An Englishman calls Him God while for an Urdu speaker He is Khuda - that is each person who belongs to any language community finds his/her own term to proclaim the existence of that Supreme Being.
That Supreme Being is not a stone icon or wood. Not any being or any other human created substance. He is the one who created everything from nothing. A strong consciousness about the Supreme Being is engrossed in human psyche from the point of the very origin of the human race and that is why the human being considers the Supreme Being as an ultimate answer for all the answerless questions. Here are some verses from the last Holy book Quran:
And if indeed thou ask them who it is that sends down rain from the sky, and gives life therewith to the earth after its death, they will certainly reply, “God!” Say, “Praise be to God!” But most of them understand not. (Quran 29:63)
If thou wert to question them, ‘Who created the heavens and the earth?’ They would be sure to reply, ‘They were created by (Him), the Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge’ (Quran 43:9)
Those are the facts that we human beings always admit openly and in secret. Unfortunately, even after this confession we turn to the stone icons, woods or human created substances. We persist in unfairness by contributing the beautiful names and attributes of the Supreme Being to these objects. The actual intention behind the delegation of more than one hundred thousand messengers and their interferences in human deeds were to correct human beings from these contradictory outlooks. All messengers came with only one purpose: to take the mankind out of the worship of the creation to the worship of the Creator.
None of the messengers pretended themselves as God, nor did they introduce any new ‘God’. The above quoted were the questions that each messenger posed to his society. And finally the messengers taught them the answers by describing the true Supreme Being and commanded them to be strict in prostrating only before Him. What a ridiculous thing happened later is that their followers ‘appointed’ the messengers in the same position as God and complimented them the very beautiful names and features of the sole Supreme Being forgetting that those messengers were corrected them from complimenting the God’s beautiful attributes and features to the stone icons, woods and to man-made objects. Therefore, new religions and their respective gods were introduced. For the sake of strayed rites and rituals there occurred deep crack and split in human family that also lead to the polarisation of minds.
The following reflective words of the last Prophet shed light into the hearts of people who are deep in their contemplations on perfect truth and keeping search for achieving the ultimate realisation:
“No infant is born but upon Fitra (as a Muslim). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Polytheist.”
Judaism, for example, the religion of Jews was introduced just after the Messenger Moses (peace be upon him). The followers of Prophet Moses elevated the sanctimonious Uzair to be God to stray the society from the right path. That religion is later known as ‘Judaism’.
The Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) performed his miracles to bring his people to the way of one and only Yahweh (name of the Hebrew God) and as for Jesus, he had received his talents to perform the miracles was from none other than Yahweh. But Jesus was also later made godlike after he was lifted to heavens. Later new customs and religious practices were introduced to worship him. This caused a perfect toppling in Jesus’ ideology through redirecting his community from worshipping a Supreme Being that Jesus had directed them to worship. This diversion invented a new religion, called ‘Christianity’.
All messengers who were appointed were focusing their centre of propagation on the ultimate Supreme Being. They all received their holy books from Him only. All messengers introduced that stream of propagation as a way for devoting the spirit of life. For addressing that Supreme Being, they discovered similar words from their own languages that bear the same meanings.
Last prophet, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), illustrated this with a parable: “My position in relation to the prophets who came before me can be explained by the following example: A man erected a building and adorned this edifice with great beauty, but he left an empty niche in the corner where just one brick was missing. People looked around the building and marveled at its beauty, but wondered why a brick was missing from that niche. I am like unto that one missing brick and I am the last in the line of the Prophets”.
Quran is supporting this: Say ye: “We believe in God, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma’il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to God (in Islam).” So if they believe as ye believe, they are indeed on the right path; but if they turn back, it is they who are in schism; but God will suffice thee as against them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing. (Quran 2:136-137)
In short, all messengers were focusing mainly on two basic themes. Firstly, to pay obedience and worship only to the one and only God who created the human being from nothing. The second is the admonition and warning about a life after death. The Single Supreme Being shaped us from sperm. He gave us time. He only knows the ending time of each of us. On that predestinated time we are taken out of our vehicle called the ‘body’. Then the body is buried into the ground. In the last day of factual judgment the vehicle, that is the body, is reconnected to us and we are restored to life. Then we will be resurrected and gathered in front of the Creator of the universe for the last reckoning– this is not a plain religious admonition; but, this is the message for life that all messengers had endowed upon their society and the last prophet to the humanity.
They say (now): “What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? “What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?” But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgement).
(Quran 79:10-14)
I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones? Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him. He questions: “When is the Day of Resurrection?” At length, when the sight is dazed, And the moon is buried in darkness. And the sun and moon are joined together,- That Day will Man say: “Where is the refuge?” By no means! No place of safety! Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. (Quran 75:1-13)
It’s clear that the colours, different languages, diverse places –all are evidences from a single God. We belong to the human family that the God bestowed His reverence and respect upon. God’s messengers built a world based on this realisation. So, the one and only God demands to human being that:
“Turn ye to our Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will), before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped. (Quran 39:54)

Say: “Who is it that sustains you (in life) from the sky and from the earth? or who is it that has power over hearing and sight? And who is it that brings out the living from the dead and the dead from the living? and who is it that rules and regulates all affairs?” They will soon say, “God”. Say, “will ye not then show piety (to Him)?” (Quran 10:31)
