Fatah, Hamas work out reconciliation Saturday, 22 October 2011 11:20

RAMALLAH: The Palestinian Authority has suggested to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to hold the parliamentary election in January in an effort to speed up the process of reconciliation between the two sides, according to Dr. Saeb Erekat member of the central committee of Fatah Movement and Palestinian negotiation chief and Azzam Al Ahmad Chairman of the Fatah bloc.
This proposal is under discussion, they told media here on Saturday, adding that an agreement between the two parties has not been reached.
Meanwhile, Fatah has called for the release of all Palestinians held in Israeli prisons saying that their release is an important way to peace.
“There will be no peace until all Palestinian prisoners are freed from Israeli jails,” Palestinian Authority (PA) Major General Tawfiq Al Tirawi said during a meeting in the West Bank with the prisoners released.
This call from Fatah followed the release last week of hundreds of Palestinians in exchange for Israeli soldier Shalit Gilhad who was taken prisoner by Hamas since 1086
Thousands more of Palestinian prisoners are still languishing in jail and the Fatah movement is said to be still in the process of coming up with a complete list of prisoners. (QNA)
