With the participation of HE the Prime Minister economic forum kicks off Saturday, 22 October 2011 14:42

Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani (L) and Klaus Schwab, the founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF), take part in the WEF annual meeting on the Middle East at the King Hussein Convention Centre at the Dead Sea October 22, 2011.

Dead Sea: King Abdullah II of Jordan opened today at the conference centre on the Jordanian side of the Dead Sea the World Economic Forum which will discuss ways of economic growth and means of finding job opportunities in the Arab world.

The two-day Forum, which is attended by about one thousand political and economic figures from 50 countries led by HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, will also discuss the importance of developing trade links by the Arab world with the world trade network to enhance growth and push towards economic and social development as well topics related to health, education, the media, how to face the scarcity of water resources and the empowerment of women.

Participants will discuss as well ways to meet the challenges of unemployment and economic and development situation in the Arab world in the light of political developments and changes in the region with a special focus on stimulating economic growth and the provision of job opportunities.


The role of Arab civil society organizations in light of social mobility, models of economic governance and the need for economic innovation that leads to positive outcomes will also feature in the Forum. (QNA and REUTERS/Majed Jaber)
